Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Welcome to PlantBridge Africa, Africa’s Verified Equipment Marketplace. Whether you are sourcing construction machinery, comparing equipment options, or looking to connect with potential buyers, this guide answers common questions about using our platform.

1. About PlantBridge Africa

What is PlantBridge Africa?

PlantBridge Africa is a construction and mining equipment marketplace that connects buyers with equipment dealers, suppliers, manufacturers, and other sellers across Africa and international markets. The platform helps users discover equipment listings and connect with sellers while supporting more informed equipment sourcing.

What types of equipment can I find on PlantBridge Africa?

The marketplace covers a range of construction, mining, infrastructure, and industrial equipment. Categories may include excavators, bulldozers, motor graders, wheel loaders, cranes, concrete equipment, road construction machinery, generators, material handling equipment, trucks, and other related machinery.

Available equipment depends on the listings published on the platform.

Which countries does PlantBridge Africa serve?

PlantBridge Africa is based in Nairobi, Kenya, and is designed to connect equipment buyers and sellers across African markets, with opportunities to discover equipment offered by international suppliers.

Buyers should confirm equipment location, delivery arrangements, import requirements, and applicable costs directly with the seller.

Does PlantBridge Africa sell equipment directly?

Yes. The marketplace may feature both PlantBridge Africa Direct listings and listings published by third-party sellers.

Check the seller information on each listing to understand who is offering the equipment and who you will be dealing with.

2. Buying Equipment

How do I find equipment on PlantBridge Africa?

Visit Browse Equipment to explore available listings. You can navigate by equipment category, browse by brand, and use available filters to narrow your search by factors such as condition, price, or other listing details.

Open a listing to review its specifications, photographs, videos, location, condition, and seller information.

How do I contact a seller?

Open the equipment listing and use the contact options provided either phone number or email address on the listing or seller profile. Ask the seller for additional specifications, current availability, photographs, inspection arrangements, pricing, and delivery information before making a purchase decision.

Can I request a quotation?

You can contact the seller to request a quotation or discuss the advertised equipment. Confirm the final price, currency, taxes, transport costs, payment terms, and any other charges directly with the seller before committing to a transaction.

Are the listed prices final?

Not necessarily. Pricing and availability depend on the individual seller and listing. Some sellers may be open to negotiation or provide quotations upon request. Confirm the final agreed price and all additional costs with the seller.

How can I tell whether equipment is new, used, or refurbished?

Review the condition stated on the listing and ask the seller for clarification if anything is unclear. Request maintenance records, operating hours, service history, inspection reports, or other supporting documentation where applicable.

Do not rely on photographs or a condition label alone when evaluating used or refurbished machinery.

Can I inspect equipment before buying?

Inspection arrangements depend on the seller, equipment location, and transaction terms. Where possible, arrange a physical inspection or appoint a qualified independent inspector before making payment.

For equipment located outside your country, ask about independent inspection services and confirm the arrangements with the seller.

Does PlantBridge Africa guarantee the quality of listed equipment?

No. A marketplace listing does not, by itself, guarantee the equipment’s condition, performance, ownership, or suitability for a particular project. Buyers should verify relevant details independently and agree on the terms of sale with the seller.

How do I buy safely on PlantBridge Africa?

Before making payment:

  • Verify the seller’s identity and business details.
  • Confirm the equipment’s availability, location, condition, and specifications.
  • Request supporting documents and inspection where appropriate.
  • Agree on the price, delivery arrangements, payment terms, and any applicable taxes or charges in writing.
  • Confirm that the payment beneficiary matches the seller or the legitimately authorised party.
  • Keep records of quotations, communications, invoices, and payment confirmations.

Read our Buyer Protection Guide for additional guidance.

3. Verified Dealers and Trust

What does the Verified Dealer badge mean?

The Verified Dealer badge indicates that PlantBridge Africa has reviewed the dealer’s submitted business or identification documentation in accordance with its verification process.

It helps buyers identify dealers whose submitted details have undergone review. It is not a guarantee of equipment quality, seller performance, ownership of every listed machine, or successful completion of a transaction.

Does PlantBridge Africa physically inspect every listed machine?

No. Dealer verification and equipment inspection are different processes. A verified dealer’s badge should not be interpreted as confirmation that every machine listed by that dealer has been physically inspected by PlantBridge Africa.

Buyers should arrange their own checks or independent inspections where appropriate.

Are all sellers on the marketplace verified?

Not necessarily. Verification status depends on whether a seller has completed the applicable verification process and been approved. Check the seller’s profile and any verification indicators displayed on the platform.

Where can I find equipment dealers?

Visit Equipment Dealers to explore the dealer directory, where available, and review seller profiles and their equipment offerings.

4. Selling Equipment

Who can sell equipment on PlantBridge Africa?

Eligible equipment dealers, manufacturers, suppliers, exporters, and other legitimate equipment sellers can explore selling through PlantBridge Africa, subject to the platform’s onboarding requirements and applicable terms.

Where can I read the Vendor Terms?

Before listing equipment on PlantBridge Africa, sellers should review the Vendor Terms. These explain the terms and conditions that apply to vendors using the marketplace, including their responsibilities when publishing equipment listings and engaging with potential buyers.

By registering as a vendor or using seller services, you should familiarise yourself with the applicable terms and requirements.

How do I become a seller?

Start by accessing the seller registration or onboarding option available on the website. Follow the registration instructions, provide the requested details, and complete any applicable verification steps.

Once your account is approved and the relevant seller features are available, you can manage your seller profile and equipment listings according to the platform’s requirements.

What information should I include in an equipment listing?

A useful listing should include:

  • Equipment make, model, and type.
  • Condition, such as new, used, or refurbished.
  • Asking price or quotation availability.
  • Equipment location.
  • Clear and accurate photographs.
  • Relevant specifications, operating hours, and service history where applicable.
  • Availability and delivery information.
  • Seller contact details and any other information requested by the platform.

Ensure that your listing is accurate and that you have the authority to advertise the equipment.

Can I list used equipment?

Yes, subject to the platform’s listing requirements. Clearly state the equipment’s condition and provide accurate details about its specifications, operating hours, known defects, and service history where available.

Can international suppliers list equipment?

PlantBridge Africa is designed to connect African buyers with both regional and international equipment suppliers. International sellers should provide accurate business details and clearly communicate equipment location, currency, shipping arrangements, import documentation, and other relevant terms.

Does listing equipment guarantee a sale?

No. Publishing a listing gives your equipment visibility on the marketplace but does not guarantee enquiries, leads, or sales. Results depend on factors such as equipment demand, pricing, listing quality, availability, and buyer requirements.

How do I become a Verified Dealer?

Follow the dealer verification process provided during seller onboarding or through your seller account, where available. Submit the requested identification or business documentation for review.

Approval depends on the applicable verification requirements. Do not advertise yourself as verified unless the platform has approved your verification status.

Can I edit or remove my equipment listings?

Listing management depends on the features available in your seller account. Where the relevant controls are provided, you can manage listing details and availability through your dashboard. Keep listings updated and remove or mark equipment unavailable when it is no longer for sale.

5. Payments, Delivery, and Transactions

Does PlantBridge Africa process payments for third-party equipment sales?

For third-party listings, buyers generally arrange payment directly with the seller. PlantBridge Africa does not hold third-party purchase funds in escrow.

For PlantBridge Africa Direct listings, follow the payment instructions and transaction terms communicated by PlantBridge Africa for that specific sale.

Does PlantBridge Africa guarantee transactions between buyers and sellers?

No. Connecting buyers and sellers does not mean PlantBridge Africa guarantees every transaction. Buyers and sellers should conduct appropriate checks, document their agreements, and confirm payment and delivery terms before proceeding.

Who is responsible for equipment delivery and transport?

Delivery and transport arrangements depend on the transaction and the agreement between the buyer and seller. Confirm who is responsible for transport, loading, insurance, customs clearance, import duties, and other costs before finalising the purchase.

Can PlantBridge Africa arrange international shipping?

Do not assume shipping is included simply because equipment is listed on the marketplace. Ask the seller whether delivery or shipping assistance is available and confirm the applicable terms and costs. Any additional coordination offered by PlantBridge Africa should be confirmed for the specific transaction.

What should I do if a seller asks me to pay a different person or account?

Pause the transaction until the payment instructions have been independently verified. Ask the seller to explain the relationship between the account holder and the transaction, and confirm the details through a trusted communication channel. Do not proceed if the explanation is unclear or suspicious.

6. Accounts and Technical Support

Do I need an account to browse equipment?

You may be able to browse publicly available listings without registering. Certain actions, such as seller registration, listing management, or other account features, may require an account.

I am having trouble accessing my seller account. What should I do?

Use the available account-recovery or password-reset option on the website. If the issue persists, contact PlantBridge Africa and describe the problem, including the email address associated with your account. Never send your password to anyone.

How do I report a suspicious listing or seller?

Send the relevant listing link and a description of your concern to info@plantbridgeafrica.com. Include supporting details where available, but avoid sending unnecessary sensitive personal or financial information.

PlantBridge Africa can review reports in line with its procedures, but reporting a concern does not guarantee a particular outcome.

How do I contact PlantBridge Africa?

For general enquiries, marketplace support, seller onboarding, or listing concerns, email info@plantbridgeafrica.com. Include enough detail for the team to understand your enquiry.
